When choosing a company for installation of your bathtub liner. Type of material composition of the bathtub liner is an important consideration. More importantly is the installation process itself. The water stagnates causing unsanitary condition and unpleasant odors. Over time, the hydrostatic pressure will cause the liner to split.
How does water get under the liner? Poor fit and bad installation techniques are the main reason. Many companies use generic molds that do not fit like a glove. There are over different bathtub styles and many liner companies simply do not have the proper mold. How to Install an Aeroklas Bed Liner to a Ford Ranger

The adhesives have no chance to bond. If the bathtub was refinished before, I recommend that reglazing material be chemically stripped to remove the reglazing.
Should the reglazing fail, the adhesive bond with the liner will fail. Due to incompetence of the installer or the competitive nature of the business, a homeowner may not understand how important it is to spend the extra dollars for the time and materials for the installer too chemically strip the tub.
Bathtub liner installation methods vary between companies from poor to excellent. A Poor installations method besides not preparing the bathtubs surface is when the installer simply applies silicon caulking around the tubs perimeter and around the drain and over flow, which is pretty typical of the failed bathliner installations we see.
Both of these methods allow the liner to flex, causing the liner to separate from the wall surround and allowing water to get under the liner causing failure. Butyl tape has a very strong grip, but only if butyl primer is used.
The correct method for bathtub liner installation, assuming the liner is a perfect fit from proper measurement.
Application of butyl primer before applying the butyl tape is critical for proper bonding to occur. The butyl tape creates a dam for the silicone adhesive, once cured prevents water from ever getting underneath the liner. The adhesive butyl tape adds to the grip.
Next butyl tape applied to the liner bottom not in strips but should cover the entire liner bottom for complete support. The liner is now ready and slipped into place and by applying pressure to the liner too firmly set it. Once attached to the adhesive butyl tape, will hold the liner in place while the silicone adhesive sets up. This liner having the proper installation will provide lasting service.
Why; so few installers do not use the correct installation method is beyond me? Either they are incompetent or their trying to save expenses on materials.

I know people generally bolt through the tray bed but I don't really want to lose the tub liner due to work tools etc My thoughts so far are,1 : cut a peice of plate to the size of fridge slide and rivet onto tub liner then tek screw slide to the plate. I'm thinking the rivets will pull through the tub liner regardless of how many rivets I fix.
I think this is the best way to go, but how easy or hard is it to remove the tub liner and refit? Anyone here done anything similar or have a better solution?
I'm not keen on losing the liner and replacing with ply. Cheers for any help. Use some silicon and call it good Seen people do it with drawers. A bathtub liner is a custom made liner that literally fits right over your existing bathtub.
They're usually made from acrylic, but some are available in plastic or PVC Poly vinyl chloride. The hard surfaces are reportedly easy to clean, difficult to damage, and last for years. A bathtub liner and tub surround fit right over the existing tub and walls, and don't require you to remove anything except the knobs on the plumbing fixtures.
You can still use all of the existing plumbing, and the whole thing can usually be installed in a day. Replacing a bathtub is a major renovation job. To begin with, you will need to remove the old tub. Then it is more than likely that you will need to remove at least some of the tiles on the walls around the tub, and of course reinstall them after the new tub is in. Depending on your new tub design, you might also need to move some plumbing.
Worst of all, you may actually have to open up a wall and remove some studs just to get the old tub out of the room. All of this will take at least a few days, and maybe more than a week! While there are standard liners available at home stores that DIYers can install themselves, custom made liners are installed by professionals. The installation process usually begins with a home visit from the installation company. During this visit, they take exact measurements of your existing bathtub and tub surround.
These measurements are sent to the manufacturer who builds the liner to exactly match the measurements. The manufacturing process takes about two weeks, but once it's delivered, the tub liner itself can be installed in less than one day. This is not cheap, but when you consider the quick turnaround and the convenience of installation, it's well worth considering.
Plus, who can calculate the incremental personal cost of being without a bathtub for up to a week? Yes, reglazing is an option. However, some people claim the odor of chemicals used to clean and prepare the bathtub surface prior to reglazing stays in the home for a number of days, so that could be a problem.
The hotel industry has generally decided that bathtub liners and tub surrounds are the best way to renovate and update their hard working bathrooms.
The adaptability, durability and convenient installation of acrylic liners are undoubtedly factors in this decision.
